Akshay Kumar and Saif Ali Khan's Crime Thriller 'Haiwaan' Hits Theatres Worldwide
Priyadarshan's highly anticipated crime thriller 'Haiwaan', starring veteran actors Akshay Kumar and Saif Ali Khan, released in theatres across the globe on Friday, September 11, 2026. Produced jointly by KVN Productions and Thespian Films, the movie marks the on-screen reunion of Akshay Kumar and Saif Ali Khan after a gap of nearly 18 years, having last shared screen space in the 2008 action feature 'Tashan'.
The film is an official Hindi adaptation of Priyadarshan's 2016 Malayalam hit thriller 'Oppam'. In a departure from their traditional comedic and romantic roles, Saif Ali Khan portrays Shyam, a visually impaired man tasked with protecting a young girl from a vengeful antagonist. Meanwhile, Akshay Kumar takes on a dark, menacing role as Parshuram, a ruthless killer targeting those connected to a retired judge. The ensemble cast also features Boman Irani, Shriya Pilgaonkar, Saiyami Kher, and Sharib Hashmi in pivotal roles.
Ahead of its theatrical debut, 'Haiwaan' cleared the Central Board of Film Certification with a U/A 16+ rating and recorded Rs 2.76 crore in advance ticket bookings. Early theatrical response highlights the tense cat-and-mouse dynamic between the lead actors and Priyadarshan's signature atmospheric storytelling. Trade analysts project a strong opening weekend box office performance as audiences respond to Akshay Kumar's rare negative character depiction.
