Andhra Pradesh Government Raises Upper Age Limit for Government Job Recruitment to 44 Years
The Government of Andhra Pradesh has issued an administrative order extending the upper age limit for direct recruitment to non-uniform public service positions from 42 years to 44 years. Promulgated through Government Order (G.O.) Ms. No. 187 by the General Administration Department, the decision provides significant relief to thousands of job aspirants across the state. The relaxed age limit will remain in effect until September 30, 2027, applying to all recruitment drives conducted by the Andhra Pradesh Public Service Commission (APPSC) and other state recruiting agencies. A separate government order also granted a two-year age concession for candidates applying for posts in uniformed services, such as the police force.
The policy modification comes in response to repeated representations from public representatives and youth forums who highlighted the scarcity of public sector job notifications over the past several years. Due to prolonged delays in recruitment cycles, many eligible candidates had crossed the statutory age threshold without getting an opportunity to appear for competitive examinations. Following the announcement, the APPSC released job notifications for 892 vacancies across various departments, including 163 Group-1 posts such as Deputy Collectors and District Educational Officers. Unemployed youth organizations welcomed the decision, urging the state administration to execute the recruitment process within a defined timeframe.
