Broadcom Raises AI Chip Revenue Forecast to $115 Billion by 2027 Amid Surging Enterprise Demand
Semiconductor giant Broadcom has significantly upgraded its long-term financial outlook for artificial intelligence chips, projecting AI semiconductor revenue to reach approximately $115 billion in fiscal year 2027 and double to $230 billion in fiscal 2028. The announcement came alongside the release of the company's fiscal third-quarter financial results, which showed total revenue surging 86% year-over-year to $29.6 billion. Driven by massive capital expenditures from major technology companies including Meta Platforms, Alphabet's Google, and OpenAI, Broadcom's quarterly AI chip sales more than tripled from the previous year to $16.7 billion.
Broadcom Chief Executive Officer Hock Tan informed analysts that the company has secured sufficient manufacturing capacity and supply chain access to support the elevated sales guidance, noting that customer orders continue to outpace existing projections. Broadcom's custom application-specific integrated circuits (ASICs) and high-speed networking silicon have become essential infrastructure for hyperscalers building massive AI data centers. Last quarter alone, bookings for Broadcom's AI hardware exceeded $30 billion.
Despite the multi-year forecast revision, Broadcom's stock experienced moderate volatility after its fiscal fourth-quarter revenue guidance of $34.8 billion slightly trailed average Wall Street estimates of $35 billion. Analysts noted that the temporary stock dip reflects heightened market expectations rather than a slowdown in fundamental demand. Broadcom's expanding backlog underscores how Big Tech's commitment to building proprietary AI computing infrastructure remains robust, positioning the chipmaker as a core pillar of the global artificial intelligence boom.
