CBSE Announces Special Class 12 Exams for Gulf and West Asia Students Affected by Conflict
The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has issued an official notification scheduling special Class 12 board examinations for students residing in Gulf and West Asian countries whose exams were cancelled earlier this year. Acting in compliance with an order from the Supreme Court of India, the board decided to conduct physical examinations across 40 subjects, comprising 20 academic and 20 skill-based subjects. The affected candidates are spread across several countries, including the United Arab Emirates, Oman, Bahrain, Kuwait, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and Iran.
During the initial exam session in March, escalated regional conflict made it impossible to safely conduct the tests as scheduled. To ensure students did not lose an academic year, CBSE had released results under an alternative assessment scheme on May 13. However, candidates who were dissatisfied with the calculated scores generated under the assessment policy were promised an opportunity to sit for actual written examinations once conditions permitted. With the issuance of this latest schedule, students can now opt to appear for the physical board exams, and the marks obtained in these special tests will be treated as final.
