Colombo Security Conclave Concludes Three-Day Maritime Table-Top Exercise in Visakhapatnam
The Eastern Naval Command at Visakhapatnam successfully concluded a three-day Table Top Exercise (TTX) on September 12, 2026, held under the aegis of the Colombo Security Conclave (CSC). The exercise brought together delegations and maritime security experts from member nations and observer states to formulate a coordinated framework against non-traditional maritime threats across the Indian Ocean Region.
Focused on developing effective responses to illicit activities at sea, the 72-hour simulated exercise covered key security challenges including maritime terrorism, narcotics smuggling, human trafficking, and illegal, unreported, and unregulated fishing. Participants evaluated existing Standard Operating Procedures, exchanged operational insights, and refined real-time information-sharing mechanisms to enhance collective Maritime Domain Awareness.
The initiative aligns with India's broader maritime vision of MAHASAGAR, which emphasizes mutual and holistic security and growth across the region. By testing operational coordination and response strategies in simulated environments, the participating member states—including India, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Mauritius, the Maldives, and Seychelles—aim to strengthen regional stability and secure vital maritime trade routes against emerging transnational security risks.
