Date for opening Udupi's new district hospital to be decided after November 3 meeting
District minister Rizwan Arshad will meet the health minister and officials in Bengaluru; he also said a uniform state policy for district Rajyotsava awards is being worked out.
A decision on when to open the new district hospital in Udupi will be taken after a meeting with the health minister and senior officials in Bengaluru on November 3, District In-charge Minister Rizwan Arshad said.
"I will inspect the hospital and hold detailed discussions with the health minister and officials of the Health Department. A collective decision will be taken after reviewing the situation," he said, adding that he would announce the date as soon as possible after the meeting.
On the district-level Rajyotsava awards, which Udupi has presented for nearly 25 years but not held this year, Arshad said the government is working on a uniform policy for all districts with clear selection criteria, and a committee will ensure awards are given on merit.
Defending the recent increase in milk prices, he said it was meant to protect dairy farmers' livelihoods and that Karnataka's prices remain lower than in Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and Tamil Nadu.
