Delhi Cabinet Passes Ease of Doing Business Bill, 2026 to Streamline Approvals via Single-Window System
In a major administrative reform, the Delhi Cabinet approved the Delhi Ease of Doing Business Bill, 2026, aimed at overhauling the existing regulatory framework for commercial enterprises and startups. The Chief Minister's Office announced the cabinet decision on September 2, 2026, marking a strategic shift from traditional bureaucratic oversight to a trust-based administrative model.
The key feature of the proposed legislation is the creation of a unified, online single-window system managed by the Delhi State Industrial and Infrastructure Development Corporation (DSIIDC) as the single nodal agency. Under this platform, entrepreneurs and business owners will be able to apply for, track, and secure operational clearances, registrations, building plan approvals, fire safety NOCs, and electricity, water, and sewage connections without having to deal with multiple government departments separately.
Government officials emphasized that the law introduces time-bound statutory processing for applications and eliminates redundant compliance procedures. By reducing administrative delays and eliminating physical interface with multiple regulatory bodies, the legislation seeks to foster a transparent, technology-driven business environment and position Delhi as a preferred destination for commerce and innovation.
