Dhruv Jurel's Century Puts India in Command Against Sri Lanka in Second Test
India has taken a commanding position in the second and final Test match against Sri Lanka in Colombo, largely thanks to a brilliant unbeaten century by wicketkeeper-batsman Dhruv Jurel. On Day 2 of the match at the Sinhalese Sports Club Ground, Jurel scored 115 not out, featuring nine fours and two sixes, guiding India to a declared total of 503 for 9. His innings was crucial in consolidating India's strong first-innings total, which also saw Rishabh Pant contribute a fluent 63 after returning from a forearm injury.
Resuming their innings, India's lower order showed significant resilience, with Jurel leading the charge and building a vital 112-run partnership for the seventh wicket with Pant. Following the declaration, India's bowlers quickly made inroads into the Sri Lankan batting lineup. By the end of Day 2, rain and bad light limited play, but India managed to claim two early wickets, leaving Sri Lanka at 8 for 2.
On Day 3, Sri Lanka showed some resistance, particularly through debutant Pasindu Sooriyabandara, who scored a patient 80 runs. However, the Indian bowlers maintained pressure, ensuring Sri Lanka finished the day at 265 for 8, still trailing by a significant 238 runs. India's dominant performance places them in a strong position to win the Test and potentially the series, highlighting the depth of their batting and bowling attack.
