Dolly Parton’s Hollywood Walk of Fame Star Undergoes Restoration Following Damage
Crews on Hollywood Boulevard have initiated essential repair and restoration work on late country music icon Dolly Parton’s star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. The action follows reports from visiting fans who noticed severe scratches directly over the singer's brass name emblem shortly after her passing on August 25 at the age of 80. The site had quickly transformed into a major public memorial, where thousands of grieving admirers gathered to lay flowers, candles, photos, and handwritten tributes.
According to representatives from the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce and the Hollywood Historic Trust, which manages the iconic landmark, the star was already slated for routine maintenance due to natural aging and minor terrazzo cracks. However, following the recent surface vandalism and the overwhelming influx of mourning visitors, officials prioritized and expedited the restoration timeline to honor Parton's enduring legacy.
During the ongoing repairs, workers removed the brass center emblem and cordoned off the black terrazzo panel to re-lay and cure the foundation. Ana Martinez, producer of the Walk of Fame, confirmed that the restoration process takes approximately three days for the terrazzo panel to set, after which the polished brass emblem will be reinstalled for public viewing before the weekend. Parton was originally honored with her Walk of Fame star in 1984, leaving an indelible mark on country music and global pop culture.
