"Every drop of rain must be conserved": Centre reviews watershed works in Pune's Khed villages
DoLR Secretary Dilip Kumar inspected PMKSY 2.0 watershed projects in Varude, Gulani and Wafgaon and urged villagers to own water conservation.
Dilip Kumar, Secretary of the Department of Land Resources (DoLR) in the Union Ministry of Rural Development, reviewed watershed development works in Varude, Gulani and Wafgaon villages of Khed in Pune district on October 30.
The projects come under the Watershed Development Component of the Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchayee Yojana 2.0 (WDC-PMKSY 2.0), which focuses on soil and water conservation, better farm productivity and sustainable rural development.
After inspecting the works and speaking with villagers, Kumar said water is the foundation of the future and that every drop of rain must be conserved to make villages water-secure and self-reliant. He urged residents to take collective responsibility for maintaining the structures built under the scheme.
