Independent Artist Sargam Vaish Accuses Makers of Sidharth Malhotra’s 'The Vvan' of Music Plagiarism
Independent musician Sargam Vaish has accused the makers of the upcoming Bollywood film 'The Vvan', starring Sidharth Malhotra and Tamannaah Bhatia, of copyright infringement. The artist alleged that a version of the devotional track 'Aigiri Nandini', composed and recorded by him, was integrated into the official promotional trailer of the film without seeking his consent, giving due credit, or providing compensation.
Taking to social media to raise his concern, Vaish expressed deep dismay over the unauthorized usage of his intellectual property by a high-profile film production house. The controversy quickly gained traction across the entertainment industry, prompting three-time Grammy Award winner and Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) member Ricky Kej to comment on the matter. Kej publicly urged the film's production team to rectify the oversight immediately or remove the track, noting that independent musicians frequently face copyright violations by mainstream cinema projects.
This incident follows a broader wave of legal and artistic disputes surrounding music rights in recent Hindi cinema releases. The makers of 'The Vvan' have not yet issued an official response to the allegations. Vaish indicated that his legal team is preparing to take formal court action if the producers fail to resolve the matter amicably.
