India to Host World Circular Economy Forum 2026 at Gandhinagar from September 15
The Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEF&CC) along with the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) has announced that India will host the World Circular Economy Forum (WCEF) 2026 in Gandhinagar, Gujarat, from September 15 to 18. This is a historic milestone, as it is the first time the global forum is being held in South Asia. Organized under the theme 'Circular Economy: Transition for People and Prosperity', the event is being held in partnership with the Finnish Innovation Fund Sitra and the Government of Gujarat.
The global summit will be jointly inaugurated by Union Minister for Environment, Forest and Climate Change Bhupender Yadav and Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendrabhai Patel at Mahatma Mandir in Gandhinagar. Over 2,000 international delegates and stakeholders from more than 65 countries are expected to participate. An international expo featuring over 125 exhibitors will display practical solutions developed by startups, research institutes, and clean-tech enterprises.
Circularity focuses on reusing, refurbishing, and recycling materials to reduce industrial waste and carbon footprints. On the sidelines, the Board of 10 Year Framework of Programmes on Sustainable Consumption and Production Patterns will meet, highlighting India's role as Co-Chair. The forum aims to establish South Asia as a major hub for sustainable industrial innovation.
