Indian Men's Cricket Team Faces Kit Delay and Accommodation Shift Before Asian Games Departure
The Indian men's cricket team, led by skipper Shreyas Iyer, encountered logistical and operational hurdles ahead of its scheduled departure for Japan to participate in the 2026 Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya. The squad faced uniform sizing issues regarding their official attire supplied by Indian Olympic Association (IOA) kit partner JSW Inspire. The discrepancy arose partly because players require two distinct apparel sets: standard national team jerseys for a one-off T20 International against Japan on September 22, followed by official Asian Games activewear for the tournament commencing September 28.
Representatives from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and the IOA engaged in back-and-forth communication to resolve the uniform replacements. An IOA official confirmed that a majority of the sizing issues were rectified prior to departure, with remaining tailored kits set for delivery shortly. Compounding the situation, room arrangements provided by local organizers in Nagoya lacked adequate space to store the team's massive equipment bags. As a result, the BCCI elected to make independent hotel arrangements for the men's squad to ensure proper lodging and preparation facilities. Unlike the men's squad, the Indian women's cricket team experienced no accommodation problems and remained at the designated IOA housing complex.
