India's Cricket Tour of Bangladesh Faces Renewed Postponement Uncertainty
The highly anticipated white-ball cricket series between India and Bangladesh, set to take place in September 2026, is once again under a cloud of uncertainty. Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) president Tamim Iqbal recently confirmed that the proposed dates for the series could be shifted, as both boards remain in discussion. The tour, which includes three One Day Internationals (ODIs) and three Twenty20 Internationals (T20Is), has already experienced a prolonged delay, having initially been slated for August 2025 before being rescheduled to September 2026.
The latest developments come amidst reports of strained relations between the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and the BCB. Earlier controversies, such as the BCCI reportedly asking Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) to release Bangladesh pacer Mustafizur Rahman from the IPL 2026 auction due to political tensions, and Bangladesh's subsequent withdrawal from the T20 World Cup 2026 where matches were to be played in India, have reportedly contributed to the current complexities. While BCB president Tamim Iqbal indicated flexibility in scheduling around a domestic age-group tournament, the BCCI is yet to issue a public clarification regarding the itinerary. This ongoing dialogue suggests that cricket fans in both nations might have to wait longer for the series to be finalized. India is also slated to play a three-match T20I series against Afghanistan starting September 13, further adding to a busy international calendar.
