Mangaluru civic chief halts construction blocking Kadri drain, orders fix for sewage at Kadri temple
Commissioner Rahul Ratnam Pandey toured the city with MUDA officials, planning new parks at Mannagudda and Mahakalipadpu and a facelift for the Urwa Stores market.
Mangaluru City Corporation Commissioner Rahul Ratnam Pandey has ordered construction on Kadri Kambla Road stopped after finding it was obstructing a stormwater drain. He told officials to issue a notice to the building owner and hold a hearing within the week.
At the Sri Manjunatha Temple in Kadri, he looked into complaints of sewage entering the water pipeline used by the temple and directed officials to take up underground drainage work and asphalt the temple's parking area.
During the tour with Mangaluru Urban Development Authority officials, it was decided to prepare a blueprint to develop Mannagudda Park near the Mayor's bungalow with sports facilities, and to explore turning Mahakalipadpu Ground into a park with a children's play area and an open-air theatre.
At Urwa Stores, officials discussed organised parking, traditional-style architecture and separate entry and exit gates for the market, and a notice was ordered over regulatory issues in a building renovation there.
