Through an official press release issued on PIB, the Ministry of Jal Shakti announced that Vice President C. P. Radhakrishnan will inaugurate the 9th edition of India International Water Week (IIWW) 2026 on September 22 at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi. The flagship five-day international event, taking place from September 22 to 26, is structured around the central theme of 'Climate Resilient Water Management.'
Organized in collaboration with major central ministries, state governments, research institutions, and international development partners, the conference aims to address pressing global water security challenges. The Netherlands and Germany are participating as official Partner Countries, bringing international expertise in sustainable water governance, wastewater recycling, and flood mitigation technologies.
The conference framework includes ten major forums, such as Ministerial Plenaries, Global Water Leaders' Sessions, and the 2nd International WASH Conference focused on drinking water accessibility and sanitation infrastructure. Fourteen Indian states are joining as Partner States to showcase regional initiatives. A key objective of the summit is moving beyond policy discussions toward actionable, collaborative solutions for long-term water conservation and climate adaptation.
