Mirzapur The Movie Pioneers Subscriber-First Music Album Launch Ahead of Cinema Debut
Ahead of its highly anticipated theatrical debut, "Mirzapur: The Movie" has established a historic milestone in the Indian music industry by launching its full soundtrack under Universal Music India's 'Hear It First' initiative. Published by Excel Music, Excel Entertainment's newly launched record label, the complete album was made exclusively available to paid music streaming subscribers during an initial window before rolling out to free, ad-supported tiers across platforms. This innovative strategy marks the first time a major Bollywood feature film has utilized a premium subscriber-first model for its entire soundtrack. Directed by Gurmeet Singh and produced by Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani, the big-screen adaptation transitions one of India's most popular OTT streaming crime drama franchises into cinema halls. The film brings back beloved original cast members, including Pankaj Tripathi as Kaleen Bhaiya, Ali Fazal as Guddu Pandit, Divyenndu, Rasika Dugal, and Shweta Tripathi, while introducing new actors like Ravi Kishan and Jitendra Kumar. Having received an 'A' certification from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC), the strategic music launch aims to boost paid digital subscriptions while generating massive box-office anticipation.
