MoHUA Approves Over 29,000 Additional Houses Under PMAY-U 2.0 at 9th CSMC Meeting
The Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA) has approved over 29,000 additional houses under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana – Urban 2.0 (PMAY-U 2.0). The decision was finalized during the 9th meeting of the Central Sanctioning and Monitoring Committee (CSMC) in New Delhi, chaired by Satendra Singh, Secretary of the Department of Urban Development. With this latest batch of approvals, the total number of houses sanctioned under the revamped PMAY-U 2.0 scheme has reached 18.77 lakh units across the country.
The newly approved housing units cover six states: Assam, Bihar, Gujarat, Telangana, Tripura, and Uttar Pradesh. They fall under the Beneficiary Led Construction (BLC) and Affordable Housing in Partnership (AHP) verticals of the scheme. PMAY-U 2.0 aims to assist urban Economically Weaker Sections (EWS), Low Income Groups (LIG), and Middle Income Groups (MIG) in obtaining dignified pucca houses equipped with basic civic amenities.
To maintain momentum, the Ministry announced that CSMC meetings will now take place every second week of the month to review state submissions promptly. MoHUA officials urged participating state governments to address implementation bottlenecks and ensure eligible urban families receive benefits without administrative delays.
