Nationwide 'Har Ghar Tiranga' Campaign Celebrates 150 Years of 'Vande Mataram'
The 'Har Ghar Tiranga' campaign, a flagship initiative under the 'Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav', is being observed across India from August 9 to 17, 2026. This year marks the fifth edition of the campaign, which aims to inspire citizens to hoist the National Flag at their homes and workplaces, thereby strengthening their personal connection with the Tiranga and reaffirming national pride. The Ministry of Culture is the nodal ministry for this movement, with various government departments, including the Ministry of MSME, actively participating by organizing special programs and distributing flags.
A pivotal aspect of the 2026 campaign is its dedication to the 150th anniversary of 'Vande Mataram', India's revered national song. This dual celebration brings together two powerful symbols of Indian national identity – the Tricolour and 'Vande Mataram' – to evoke a collective spirit of patriotism and unity. Public participation is encouraged through various activities such as Tiranga Yatras (rallies), cultural programs, mass singing of 'Vande Mataram', and a 'Selfie with Tiranga' initiative on the official campaign portal. The campaign, which originated in 2022, has evolved into a widespread 'Jan Bhagidari' (people's participation) movement, reflecting a collective commitment to nation-building and celebrating India's rich cultural heritage.
