NATO Military Chiefs Gather in Copenhagen for Strategic Defence Conference
Military leadership from all 32 NATO allied countries assembled in Copenhagen, Denmark, on September 18–19, 2026, for the NATO Military Committee Conference. Chaired by Admiral Giuseppe Cavo Dragone, Chair of the NATO Military Committee, the high-level meeting brought together Allied Chiefs of Defence alongside Strategic Commanders General Alexus G. Grynkewich (Supreme Allied Commander Europe) and Admiral Pierre Vandier (Supreme Allied Commander Transformation).
The two-day conference centered on evaluating decisions from the recent NATO Summit in Ankara and formulating actionable military strategy. Discussions focused on reinforcing collective deterrence and defence capabilities across Europe, integrating emerging defense technologies, and sustaining long-term military support for Ukraine amid ongoing security challenges.
Danish Chief of Defence General Michael Wiggers Hyldgaard and French Chief of Defence General Fabien Mandon highlighted the importance of Nordic and European military coordination within the broader alliance framework. The conference serves as NATO's highest military authority meeting, providing strategic guidance to political leaders and operational commanders to ensure readiness against global threats.
