Over 25 Lakh Adult Learners Participate in Nationwide FLNAT Exam Under ULLAS Scheme
In a significant push towards achieving full literacy across India, over 25 lakh adult learners across nine states and Union Territories appeared for the Foundational Literacy and Numeracy Assessment Test (FLNAT) on September 20, 2026. The examination was conducted under the aegis of the Union Ministry of Education's flagship initiative, ULLAS – Nav Bharat Saaksharta Karyakram. The test evaluates basic competencies in reading, writing, numeracy, and essential life skills among adult participants who have undertaken foundational learning modules.
The nationwide drive witnessed enthusiastic participation from neo-literates, supported by thousands of volunteer teachers, school administrators, and local governance bodies. State education departments established dedicated examination centres in primary schools and community halls, providing essential learning materials and administrative support to encourage non-literates to achieve certified literacy status. The successful execution of FLNAT highlights the government's commitment to transforming adult education into a grassroots movement of active citizenship, digital literacy, and self-reliance, driving India closer to its target of universal literacy under the National Education Policy 2020.
