PIB Fact Check Debunks Fake Notice Claiming Central Government Review of Teacher Eligibility Test
The Press Information Bureau's (PIB) Fact Check unit has debunked a fake office memorandum circulating online that claimed the Ministry of Education was planning a comprehensive review of the Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) framework. Dated September 16, 2026, the fabricated document alleged that the Department of School Education and Literacy proposed reviewing TET eligibility criteria, serving teachers' qualifications, and exam frequency through potential legislative amendments.
Official authorities clarified on September 18, 2026, that no such memorandum was issued by the Central Government. The PIB confirmed that the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) has neither conducted any review meetings nor proposed any legislative changes concerning teacher eligibility regulations. The government urged candidates, serving teachers, and educational institutions to rely solely on official portals for authentic notifications and ignore unverified claims circulating on social media platforms.
