PM Narendra Modi to Inaugurate 5th Edition of SEMICON India 2026 on September 17
The Press Information Bureau (PIB) announced that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the fifth edition of SEMICON India 2026 on September 17 at Yashobhoomi (India International Convention & Expo Centre) in Dwarka, New Delhi. Jointly organized by the India Semiconductor Mission (ISM), the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), and global industry association SEMI, the three-day flagship conference and exhibition will run through September 19 under the theme 'Silicon to Systems: Building the Ecosystem'.
The event is set to gather over 600 exhibitors, 300 international companies, and official delegations from more than 40 countries, bringing together chipmakers, equipment suppliers, investors, startups, and academic researchers. According to the government press release, SEMICON India 2026 highlights the rapid expansion of India's semiconductor ecosystem, bolstered by policy initiatives like the Production Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme and local component manufacturing support. Recent industry data shows India's semiconductor domain has attracted $1.4 billion in cumulative equity funding, with over $700 million raised since 2025 alone.
For the general public and technology industry, the conference underscores India's strategy to reduce import dependence, strengthen domestic manufacturing resilience, and position the country as a vital global hub in the semiconductor supply chain.
