PM-SETU Approves ₹735 Crore Investment Plans for Upgrading ITI Clusters
The 5th National Steering Committee meeting of the Pradhan Mantri Skilling and Employability Transformation through Upgraded ITIs (PM-SETU) scheme approved Strategic Investment Plans with an aggregate project outlay of ₹735.70 crore. Chaired by Debashree Mukherjee, Secretary of the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, the committee cleared major proposals aimed at modernizing Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) across Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, and Telangana. With these approvals, total sanctioned investments under PM-SETU reached ₹2,171 crore across nine ITI clusters nationwide.
Under the approved plans, Rajasthan received ₹241 crore for the Bhiwadi ITI cluster led by industry partner H.G. Infra Engineering Limited. The initiative focuses on upgrading training infrastructure, modernizing laboratory facilities, establishing smart classrooms, and introducing industry-aligned courses in emerging tech and manufacturing domains. Public-private partnerships form the core of the PM-SETU operational framework, enabling anchor industry partners to manage Special Purpose Vehicles to directly guide vocational training toward market needs.
The ₹60,000-crore PM-SETU scheme aims to transform 1,000 government ITIs into world-class centers of excellence using a hub-and-spoke model. By bridging the gap between classroom instruction and practical industrial applications, the government seeks to enhance youth employability and build a highly skilled workforce across India.
