Prime Minister Narendra Modi Dedicates ₹35,000 Crore Infrastructure Projects in Vadodara and Opens Global Fintech Fest 2026
In a major boost to national infrastructure and financial technology, Prime Minister Narendra Modi dedicated and laid the foundation stones for development projects worth more than ₹35,000 crore during his visit to Vadodara, Gujarat. Among the key highlights was the dedication of three new sections of the Western Dedicated Freight Corridor (WDFC) spanning 326 route kilometres, built at a cost exceeding ₹20,700 crore. With the commissioning of these sections—New Sanand to New Makarpura, New Umbergaon to New Saphale, and New Saphale to New JNPT—the entire 2,800-kilometre Dedicated Freight Corridor network stands fully operational, establishing direct rail connectivity to the Jawaharlal Nehru Port Authority and significantly reducing EXIM logistics costs across India.
Following his engagements in Vadodara, Prime Minister Modi traveled to Mumbai to formally inaugurate the 7th edition of the Global Fintech Fest (GFF) 2026. Addressing global leaders, innovators, and financial executives gathered under the theme "Potential to Impact: Agentic AI, Tokenisation, Quantum," the Prime Minister highlighted India's leadership in digital public infrastructure, Unified Payments Interface (UPI), and inclusive financial technologies. The press release issued by the Prime Minister's Office emphasized that these multi-sectoral initiatives reflect the government's commitment to modernizing national logistics and driving digital financial revolution on a global scale.
