District minister S S Mallikarjun also asked the state not to release extra Bhadra water to Chitradurga before the Irrigation Consultative Committee meets.
The state government has sanctioned Rs 195 crore to rebuild the Chigateri District Hospital in Davanagere, District In-charge Minister S S Mallikarjun told reporters on Sunday.
He said the old building had been declared unfit for use after an inspection by Health and Family Welfare Department officials. It will be demolished and replaced with a well-equipped hospital, and work will begin shortly.
On the government's order to release an additional one tmc ft of water from the Bhadra reservoir to the Upper Bhadra canal in Chitradurga district, Mallikarjun said he had asked the water resources minister to wait until the Irrigation Consultative Committee meets and to consult all MLAs from Davanagere district first.
On the proposed High Court bench, he said a committee of three judges is studying the proposal, and the government has been told that Davanagere, in the centre of the state, would be a suitable location.
