Samsung officially unveiled its highly anticipated new smartwatches, the Galaxy Watch Ultra2 and Galaxy Watch9, at the Galaxy Unpacked event held in July 2026 in London. This significant launch introduces two distinct wearable devices catering to different user needs, further solidifying Samsung's position in the competitive smartwatch market.
The Galaxy Watch Ultra2 stands out as the premium offering, featuring robust durability, an extended battery life with an 800mAh capacity, and an exceptionally bright 1.52-inch Super AMOLED display reaching up to 5,000 nits of peak brightness, making it easily readable outdoors. Designed for outdoor enthusiasts and serious athletes, it boasts enhanced GPS capabilities, precise health sensors, and new activity tracking metrics, including a dedicated Trail Run mode. Despite its advanced features, it is 12% thinner than its predecessor.
Complementing the Ultra2, the Galaxy Watch9 targets a broader consumer base with a balance of advanced functionalities and a user-friendly design. Both new models are powered by Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon Wear Elite chipset, promising improved performance and efficiency, especially for AI-powered health features. They run on Google's Wear OS 7, co-developed with Samsung, ensuring a seamless experience with access to a wide array of applications and refined sleep tracking algorithms. Key upgrades across the lineup include larger batteries and thinner profiles, emphasizing comfort and extended usage, underscoring Samsung's continuous innovation in the wearable technology sector.
