Sudan Ministry of Education Announces 2026 Secondary School Exam Results
Sudan’s Ministry of Education officially announced the results of the 2026 Sudanese Certificate examinations on September 11, 2026, marking a significant milestone for the country's crisis-affected school education system. Education Minister Al-Tohami Al-Zain Hajar declared the results during a press conference in Khartoum, reporting an overall pass rate of 69.6% in the general academic stream. The national examinations council highlighted higher performance in specialized tracks, with vocational education recording a 90.3% pass rate and Quranic and Islamic Studies reaching 89.5%. Technical streams, covering industrial, commercial, and agricultural disciplines, recorded a 65.4% pass rate.
Despite widespread conflict and school destruction across the nation, examinations were conducted across 84 international test centers in 17 countries to accommodate displaced Sudanese students, yielding a 67.9% pass rate abroad. Education officials praised teachers and school administrators for their resilience in preserving the integrity of national school assessments under extreme hardship.
Celebrating the academic perseverance of students, Prime Minister Kamil Idris reaffirmed the government's commitment to supporting higher education access amidst national recovery efforts. In a major policy announcement, the Prime Minister declared that the government would grant full university tuition waivers to the top 100 highest-scoring students nationwide. However, authorities emphasized that separate parallel examinations conducted in RSF-controlled regions in Darfur and Kordofan remain unapproved and will not be recognized by the national education ministry.
