Thalapathy Vijay's Final Film 'Jana Nayagan' Premieres on ZEE5
Thalapathy Vijay's much-discussed political action drama, 'Jana Nayagan,' commenced streaming on ZEE5 from August 21, 2026, delighting fans who eagerly awaited its digital release. Directed by H. Vinoth, the film holds particular significance as it marks Vijay's final acting role before he fully transitions into a career in politics, following his recent assumption of the Chief Minister's office in Tamil Nadu. The movie, which had its theatrical release on July 23, 2026, faced several initial hurdles, including delays in obtaining censor certification due to issues related to the depiction of symbols linked to the Indian Armed Forces. The matter even reached the Madras High Court and the Supreme Court before ultimately securing a U/A certificate.
'Jana Nayagan' is a political action thriller where Vijay portrays Vetri Kondan, a former police officer drawn into a larger ideological battle. The film also features a notable ensemble cast including Pooja Hegde, Bobby Deol, Mamitha Baiju, Prakash Raj, Gautham Vasudev Menon, and Priyamani. The music for the film was composed by Anirudh Ravichander. Its release on ZEE5 in multiple South Indian languages—Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, and Kannada—is expected to ensure broader accessibility for Vijay's extensive fanbase across different regions. Despite facing mixed reactions during its theatrical run, the film garnered substantial box office collections, reflecting Vijay's enduring popularity.
