Union Cabinet Approves G20 Global Digital Public Infrastructure Repository and Exchange of DPIs
The Union Cabinet, chaired by the Prime Minister, has approved the creation of the G20 Global Digital Public Infrastructure Repository (GDPIR), a significant step towards fostering global digital cooperation. This repository will serve as a comprehensive platform for sharing the best practices and success stories of Digital Public Infrastructures (DPIs) from India and other G20 member countries. The approval also encompasses the framework for the exchange of DPIs, allowing nations to leverage proven digital solutions for their own development challenges. This initiative builds on India's successful deployment of robust digital platforms, such as Aadhaar and the Unified Payments Interface (UPI), which have revolutionized public service delivery and financial inclusion within the country. By offering these scalable and inclusive solutions, India aims to position itself as a global leader in digital transformation and a key contributor to the digital advancement of the Global South. The GDPIR is expected to bridge knowledge gaps around the design, construction, and deployment of population-scale DPIs, enabling countries to accelerate their digital journeys. This move is set to strengthen international collaborations, promote interoperability, and ensure that the benefits of digital technologies are accessible to all, contributing to sustainable development goals worldwide.
