Union Labour Ministry Extends 'Digital Shram Sankalp' AI Ideation Hackathon Deadline to September 18
On September 1, 2026, the Ministry of Labour & Employment (MoLE), Government of India, officially extended the submission deadline for its nationwide ideation hackathon, titled 'Digital Shram Sankalp: Reimagining India's Labour Ecosystem with AI', to September 18, 2026. The extension comes in response to an overwhelming participation response from technology developers, research scholars, academic institutions, and artificial intelligence startups across the country.
Hosted on MyGov's Innovate India platform, the hackathon focuses on integrating cutting-edge technologies—such as Generative AI, machine learning, predictive data analytics, and Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI)—into India's key labour administration portals: eShram, the National Career Service (NCS), and Shram Suvidha Portal 2.0. As of early September, over 1,000 registered participants have submitted more than 1,368 innovative proposals spanning 12 distinct challenge domains. Key problem statements include developing consent-based privacy-preserving location heatmaps for unorganised migrant workers, multilingual voice-enabled AI chatbots for portal interaction, automated document analysis for labor compliance inspections, and AI-driven mock interview simulators for job seekers.
The top five winning solutions under each challenge category will receive monetary cash prizes, and promising prototypes will be evaluated by senior ministry officials for nationwide pilot implementation and full-scale deployment across India's digital public infrastructure.
