Union Minister Launches Special Campaign 6.0 Web Portal for Office Cleanliness and E-Waste Recycling
Union Minister of State for Personnel Dr. Jitendra Singh launched the dedicated online monitoring portal for 'Special Campaign 6.0' on September 16, 2026, in New Delhi. Coordinated by the Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances (DARPG), the campaign involves all 84 Central Government ministries and departments to institutionalize cleanliness, accelerate the disposal of pending public grievances, and promote sustainable administrative practices.
A primary focus of the sixth edition is the systematic collection and responsible recycling of non-functional electronic waste lying in government offices across the nation. Speaking at the launch event, Dr. Jitendra Singh highlighted that recycling administrative e-waste into 'black mass'—which yields critical minerals—could eventually generate up to ₹10,000 crore annually for the economy while simultaneously clearing clutter. The preparatory phase of the campaign runs from September 16 to 30, followed by the nationwide implementation phase from October 2 to 31, 2026.
Since the drive was first launched in 2021, previous editions of the Special Campaign have covered over 24.20 lakh locations, closed over 180 lakh pending files, freed millions of square feet of office space, and generated more than ₹5,100 crore in revenue through scrap disposal. The current campaign will also monitor field offices, autonomous bodies, and diplomatic missions overseas to ensure a saturation approach to cleanliness and governance reform.
