Union Sports Minister Mansukh Mandaviya Leads 'Sundays on Cycle' Rally in Nagoya to Support Team India
Union Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya led the 91st edition of the 'Sundays on Cycle' initiative at Meijo Park in Nagoya, Japan, bringing together members of the Indian diaspora to cheer for the Indian contingent participating in the 2026 Asian Games. Organized under the banner of the Fit India Movement, the public cycle ride aimed to foster community spirit and build enthusiasm among non-resident Indians supporting national athletes on the continental stage.
Addressing the participants in Nagoya, Dr. Mandaviya commended the diaspora for their energetic turnout and highlighted the importance of public encouragement in boosting athlete morale. He noted that India has fielded a strong contingent of over 500 young athletes competing across multiple disciplines at the Aichi-Nagoya Games. The minister emphasized that sports serves as a universal medium to unify communities while promoting fitness, health, and wellness.
The event forms part of the central government's ongoing efforts to engage Indian communities abroad during major multi-sport events. By linking physical activity with national support for athletes, the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports continues to project India's expanding sporting profile internationally while encouraging active lifestyles among citizens at home and abroad.
