Yash Breaks Silence on Box Office Performance of 'Toxic' and Mass Piracy
Following a dramatic drop in theatrical collections for the ₹500 crore Kannada multi-lingual film Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups, lead actor Yash has responded to the film's unexpected outcome. Speaking on behalf of the actor, dubbing supervisor Jaidev Mohan shared details from his private conversations with Yash on a regional video platform. Mohan stated that despite opening to a massive ₹101 crore in India on its first day, the film suffered a sharp decline due to negative reviews and online backlash.
Mohan revealed that Yash encouraged the film’s cast and crew not to be disheartened by the box office trajectory, noting that ultimate judgment rests with the cinema-going public. He quoted Yash as emphasizing that the team must learn from the experience and focus on upcoming projects. Additionally, Mohan addressed the heavy toll of online piracy, revealing that cyber teams have identified and removed more than 300,000 unauthorized streaming and download links since the film's release. The action drama, directed by Geetu Mohandas and produced by KVN Productions alongside Monster Mind Creations, marks Yash’s first theatrical release since the blockbuster K.G.F: Chapter 2.
